The last few years were very important in the bands life, they had line-up changes, made several tours across Europe, and after releasing “The Awakening” last year, the band quicky came up with it’s follower “Insomnia”. From the very first song “Flies” it is easy to hear that the bands sound has evolved, from being pretty much pure nu-metal to a more modern metalcore/death metal sound, still keeping the old groove, the new vocalist offered a variety of different extreme vocal techniques, that perfectly suited the bands style. “Make Them Bleed” is the first released single from the record, it has a pretty nice metalcore groove in it, that i’m sure many fans will enjoy. “No Way Out” is a new re-recorded version of the song, that was released as a single in 2015, so true fans will pretty much easily recognize it. “Frost Giants” has one of my fav intros on the record, a really catchy solo - a mid-tempo song like this is pretty much a must have on every metal album! “Trust My Rage” is a perfect headbang song to include in the bands setlist for their upcoming European tour with Ease Of Disgust”, people will definitely love it. The title track “Insomnia” looked like a classic metalcore/deathcore breakdown song until it transferred into a more black metal alike verse, coming back to an oldschool metalcore breakdown closer to the end, def one of the best tracks on the record! “Nemesis” will be definitely the song that old die-hard Nu-Nation fans will like, groovy, catchy, with faster riffage and slow breakdowns - a def must have in the live setlist of the band! The final 2 tracks on the record “Rebel” and “We Are Revolution” have an old Nu-Nation feel mixed with their new sound, loved the piano ending of “We Are Revolution”. Сравнительно молодая группа из Санкт-Петербурга Nu-Nation выпускает свой третий альбом Insomnia. Nu-Nation образовались в 2009-м, имеет за плечами два альбома - Wake Up(2012) и The Awakening (2014). И очень, очень активно выступает. Как говорит лидер группы, гитарист Александр Корсак: "Если есть возможность выступить, но придется лишние 800 км намотать - то мы без раздумий поедем играть концерт, а не устроим себе выходной". Однако вернёмся к творчеству. В самом начале пути огромное влияние на группу оказали бразильцы Sepultura, что отлично слышно в их первой работе. После музыка всё больше приобретала форму nu-metal, пока не произошла смена состава, и теперь это – отличная смесь металкора, дезкора, брейкдаунов и многого другого. Первое, что хотелось бы отметить в Insomnia – энергия. Её по-настоящему много. Она чувствуется едва ли не в каждой ноте. Впрочем, у ребят богатый опыт живых выступлений, и они знают каково это – отдавать и получать от фанов в разы больше. Не знаю, ставили себе такую цель музыканты или нет, но вышло отлично. Радует и качество записи. Инструменты все слышно так, как хотелось бы: если это жирный бас или гитары в низкой тональности, то они так и звучат, а не бесформенным комком звука, как это временами бывает. Про музыку можно говорить много – здесь есть цепляющие соло ("Frost Giants"), небольшой уход в сторону блэка ("Insomnia"), влияние старого творчества ("Rebel") и просто отличные драйвовые вещи ("Trust My Rage", "Nemesis"). Экстремальный вокал, низкие гитары, отличный бас и ударные – всё на своих местах, как и должно быть в этом стиле музыки. Такие альбомы всегда радуют. И, думаю, вживую он будет звучать ещё лучше. А учитывая, что совсем скоро у группы начинается достаточно долгий тур вместе с Ease of Disgust – будет много возможностей услышать ребят вживую. Чем грех не воспользоваться.
